Service Program for Older People (SPOP) is offering a series of free interactive training webinars for those who work with older adults.
Treating suicidality can feel daunting, even for the most seasoned clinician. This session is designed to increase competence and confidence in navigating conversations with older clients who are experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors. We will examine data and case studies, the language of suicide, risk factors, strategies to address countertransference, and best practices for assessing and treating suicidality in an older population.
Upon completion of the workshop participants will know how to: identify and assess for suicidality in older adults; make plans to enhance support for older clients; recognize signs of countertransference.
This program is for anyone who works with an older population. CE credit is available for licensed social workers.
