The Intersection of Gender-Based Violence and Older Adults (OPDV)

Presented by the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV)

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported. Those who work with older adults play an important role in creating environments that are both supportive and responsive. This training provides professionals, service providers, and others working with older adults with foundational knowledge about gender-based violence, including common tactics, risk factors, and its impact on older adults. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of abuse, develop practical skills to respond in a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive manner, and understand the resources available to victims and survivors in New York State.
